Florafolio Basics

Florafolio is a catalogue for plant collections. It records what each plant is, where it lives, and how it has changed over time, whether that is six houseplants on a windowsill or several hundred specimens across a property.

It runs on the web, iOS, and Android from the same account, and every screen works without a connection.

A taxon is a botanical record in the shared index — a family, genus, species, variety, or cultivar. A plant is your individual specimen, which points at a taxon and carries your nickname, notes, photos, and map position. A collection is the group a plant belongs to, such as a glasshouse, a garden bed, or a bonsai bench.

Taxa are shared by everyone. Your plants and collections are private unless you choose to publish them.

Create a collection, search the botanical index for the plant you are adding, and confirm the match. Give the plant a nickname if you use one, record how you acquired it, and add a photo.

Turn on mapping for the collection when you want to remember where things are planted, then drop each plant onto the map. From then on the collection can be browsed as a list or as a map.
