How Syncing Works

Every change you make is written to your device straight away and queued for the server. Nothing waits on a network request, so adding a plant at the bottom of the garden feels the same as adding one at the kitchen table.

The status pill in the app shows whether you are synced, syncing, or offline with changes waiting. Offline is not an error state — queued changes keep retrying and go up as soon as there is a connection.

When the same plant is edited on two devices, the most recent change to each field wins, so an edit to a nickname on your phone and an edit to notes on your laptop both survive. Deletions are kept as tombstones so a record removed on one device does not reappear from another.

Photos and uploaded map images are the one part that needs a connection, because the file itself has to reach storage. If an upload fails, the plant record is still saved and you can add the photo again once you are back online.
